Today, the Bureau of Labor released the current national unemployment rate for 2011, which is now at 9.1%; 117,000 jobs were created in the month of July. This is a slight improvement from last month, which put the unemployment rate at 9.2%. Industries that are currently on the uptrend of hiring are Healthcare (+31,000), Retail (+26,000), and Manufacturing (+24,000). The Government industry is the only one to take a significant hit in employment, losing 37,000 jobs this month. The report for local unemployment rates will be release on August 19, 2011.
